About Us

OUR PURPOSE

 

Precious Virtue was established because we saw that our girls lacked direction and positive female influences. There was an increase in violence among girls, and there was a need for someone to come and guide these girls down a better path with more options. With the advent of social media, there has also been an increase in incidents of self-harm. Our mentoring program helps to combat some of the perils that our adolescents face.

Studies have shown that there are profound positive effects on girls of color who have a mentor. According to a report by the National Mentoring Partnership, girls of color who have access to mentors are more likely to have higher self-esteem, improved academic performance, and increased aspirations for their future.

 

 

OUR MISSION

The purpose of Precious Virtue is to empower adolescent girls and single moms to thrive in leadership, relationships, and life while preparing them for post-secondary options, fulfilling careers, and empowering them to become catalysts for positive change in their communities.

 

We achieve this through many efforts and initiatives, such as our community partnerships, our values curriculum, field explorations, community service outings, and individual and group mentoring.
